The Northwest Junior Rodeo Association (NJRA) is an
organization dedicated to the sport of junior rodeo, youth and families, and
just plain good-old All-American fun through the spirit of friendly
competition. The NJRA is based in the Puget Sound area of western Washington
State and holds junior rodeos throughout the spring, summer and fall.

Hi and welcome to the 2008 Junior Rodeo season. I am Sharene Wise,
your 2008 NJRA Rodeo Queen. I am 17 years old and am a junior at
Nooksack Valley High School in Everson, Washington. I am really
looking forward to working with the NJRA and am ready to help promote
the sport of Junior Rodeo, and its history to all areas of the
northwest.
I have been a member of
the NJRA for about 5 years now. Rodeo has always been a big dream for me and
being the Queen of this great association is a dream come true. In the NJRA
I participate in barrels, poles, goats, ribbon dogging, and breakaway
roping.
Other than Junior Rodeo I
participate in some high school rodeos. I am also an active member of my FFA
where I show horses and lambs. After high school I am planning on going to a
college to get a degree in Ranch Management.
I would like to thank all
of my family and the families in the NJRA who have helped me become who I am
today. I appreciate all you have done for me and this rodeo association. I
would also like to thank everyone who has ever supported the NJRA and the
sport of rodeo, where families are brought together in a great way and the
kids can have fun. The NJRA is a great place to grow and I believe it will
stay that way for years to come. Good luck to all this year and have a fun
and safe rodeo season.

IMPORTANT! All rough
stock event contestants must wear a helmet, vest, and mouth guard.
(This rule was deleted from the rule book by mistake, but was never voted on.)

The NJRA has requested that it
be posted at each of the NJRA Sanctioned Junior Rodeos that 'Fat Boy'
or similar boots with a 'heavy tread' or that are extra wide not be
worn. This has become a safety issue, especially with goat tying
or in the case that you fall off your horse or you and your horse fall
that you might become 'stuck' in the stirrup. If you have these
boots for riding, it is strongly recommended that you wear another
type of western boot with a smooth sole and heel during competition. |
